Soft was the leaf littered ground
upon where I lay gently down my head
In a blinding aureole - The sun in autumn flame
The spirits all did fall
and all wept in sullen joy
...And I watched the sun set into the sea
and all was darkness
The cold blanket of night gently covered the Earth
in a veil of darkness
...And it covered the colours of lovers' eyes
with a sudden pneumonia
it covered all
An I stumbled through the darkness and the icy wind
heading for that golden aureole
'Till I stood upon the shore of the lake of fire
searching through the past...
--
A little girl sat upon the shore of the lake of fire
Sad tears erased her tiny features
Many years she waited alone staring out to sea
Searching for a dream that would not be
A little boy put his little arms around the little girl
Deep scars sliced through his featureless face
...And the wedding bells did ring out across the sea...
...From a distant shore that they'll never see
And as he looked into her eyes the vision fades away
She played him her last song
...and the Death March echoed far...
...and long...
--
Who lays their heads upon
the leaf littered ground?
Who hears the Earth cry out without making sound?
Who watched the blood pur from the angel's throne?
Who watched the last sunrise for one now so alone?
